How Chris Pratt Found Jesus

Well-known actor Chris Pratt recently shared the story of how he came to faith and how he landed his acting career--two things that he believes are inextricably linked.
Pratt grew up in the small town of Lake Stevens, Washington. He was a country boy from a family that often struggled financially. FaithWire.com notes that it took Pratt some trial and error to find what he was really meant to do in life.
A real turning point for him, however, came when he was getting ready to go to a party while living in Hawaii and working as a waiter at a Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. restaurant.
He was hoping to find fun at the party through alcohol, drugs, and girls, but he was in for a surprise. A man approached him outside a grocery store and told him “Jesus told me to talk to you…”
For some reason he can’t quite explain, Pratt “was charmed” by this man and listened to him.
“At that moment I was like, I think I have to go with this guy. He took me to church. Over the next few days I surprised my friends by declaring that I was going to change my life,” Pratt recalls.
That’s the moment Pratt credits with putting him on a new course. Soon after, he waited on someone at the restaurant who was a star in Hollywood. Through this connection, Pratt got a start in his acting career.
Now, looking back, the star of Guardians of the GalaxyJurassic World, and new movie Passengers, says he can see God’s hand on his life through all the experiences he had, preparing him for his acting career.
“That’s why I believe in God and the divine,” he said, according to Vanity Fair’s Rich Cohen who did an extensive interview with the celebrity.
Pratt is married to fellow actress Anna Faris. They have a four-year-old son named Jack.

Modern day Idolatry

Idolatry is worshiping other things besides the one true God. Consistently throughout the Bible it is made very clear that idolatry is unacceptable. In the times of the Bible, most people worshiped gods and goddesses made of stone, wood or sometimes precious metals. God condemns the worship of such objects. No matter what the idol is made of, it is still a lifeless object with no power or character. It definitely has no power to save us from our sins! Idolatry is not only foolish but is a major sin in the eyes of God. Idolatry worships the creature rather than the creator  How can intelligent people turn to idolatry? Idolatry begins when people reject what they know about God.  Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.  Romans 1:22-23 Instead of looking to God as the creator and sustainer of life, idol worshipers see themselves as the ...
